Not Without Conflicts/Opposition

Along with the mention of woods/forests, will emphasize that there has been a lot of confusion around the "police project." Within the past 10-12 years, especially, there have been many kinds of stories told--some true, some false, and others a combination of true and false. And myself, I've been explaining a lot within this time also. Some of the major parties have agreed with the views I've put forward about gay rights and gay marriage but they weren't quite ready to reveal what they were doing, so far. Will write some more separately in the original blog. [Just wanted to make a note of the conflicts here. Don't want to ignore them or whitewash them.]

Isn't it true that anything worthwhile usually generates conflict? Conflict and opposition! And there need to be explanations made, in some cases.

Emphasis on Forests

According to Canada Post, this is the United Nations' "International Year of Forests." That's another issue that goes along with Earth Day, in my opinion! When I have time, I plan to post a few more photos which have to do with the environment.

Earth Day

It happens that tomorrow is "Earth Day"--or the "International Mother Earth Day," celebrated by all countries belonging to the United Nations, as far as I understand; and this week is Earth Week, for some who wish to raise awareness during the whole week. [With tomorrow being a Christian holiday, maybe some are celebrating today instead?] There's an emphasis on the environment.

Colour Codes

The international division of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police have used colour codes for a number of years in their work.--Maybe the codes also correspond with codes from other countries? [Am not sure and would have to do some more research on it!]

"Colour codes" have also been used in the police project.--Have been mentioning a little about colours in both of my Waterlily Story blogs.

The Woods--II

Here are some more photos from a nearby woods.

The Woods

Henry David Thoreau was a well-known writer who lived in the woods! He also wrote about "non-violent civil protest" and was said to have influenced people like Gandhi in India. Some--or should I say most?--parties in the police project have taken some lessons from Thoreau.
[Their plans have been meant to be "non-violent" but it remains to be seen yet how we'll get through everything.--It also depends on what a definition of non-violent is! Anyway, they were aiming at being non-violent.]

This is a photo of nearby woods which I took last year.

Ontario's Flower

These flowers are called trilliums. They're the official flower of the Province of Ontario.

Isn't it true that the "twin" parties are still kind of in prison??? They've had freedom to work with film/TV people but they're not completely public yet!

Red and green are the major colours in the emblem for the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police. [If I may say so.]

Son's Camera Gift

My son gave me a digital camera for Christmas 2009. It was my first one! I would've been happier with a smaller, cheap camera to begin with until I learned to use digital. But my son took the receipt away and said, "No, I want you to have this one!" The camera he gave me wasn't cheap and it took a while for me to get started with it. Right now, I have nearly 1,200 photos on the original camera card. Am guessing I have another 1,000 photos or so from my past film cameras?--Have them stored. When I get enough money, I'll buy myself an even better digital camera but this was a thoughtful gift which my son gave me! [He got it on sale and it still wasn't cheap!]

My Equipment

Have stated earlier that my current computer equipment is limited. Also, I have poor viewing facilities, as far as editing goes.--I can only preview the "thumbnail" views and not larger photos.--So I do the best I can. [If I have a chance later, I might go back and re-do some of the entries? But will make do with what I have for now.]

Some Corrections(?)

Please excuse some minor errors in the blog layout, if necessary. The site seems to be acting up somehow--like it did in the original one earlier.--But will do my best to do what I need to!

Pink Blooms

Here are some more blooms from last year.

Would like to post more of my photos in this

blog. Some people have had such a negative view that I think it's only good to show that some of us have been working on positive things! [At present, I must have a few thousand photographs of nature, landscapes, cultural locations--all quite decent and respectable!]

Pianos and Oshawa History

The bottom picture here shows an outdoor wall mural by Robin Burgesse from Ottawa, painted in 1996. The location is in downtown Oshawa. One of the scenes portrayed is from the Williams Piano Factory, which was located here for a while. They made pianos and a few organs. [They didn't necessarily make this piano, which I understand was made in about 1925.--It's close to 100 years old!]

The top photo is my dad's piano, the one which was purchased from a prominent family in Oshawa many years ago. [It has been refinished in a cherry colour.]

Traditional Spring Blooms

The forsythia blooms are traditionally one of the first signs of spring in many areas.

[Maybe gardeners are the most familiar with them?--

NOTE: Have just learned the shrubs were brought from China,

and they also grow in southeastern Europe.

They belong to the olive family!]

More Spring Photos

The lower picture above is from a local garden today;

and the upper photo is from another location last year.

The Progress of Spring

Here is a view of a local garden--just this morning!

[Would like to show some of my photography, even though my equipment is limited. It's not completely limited, however! Thankfully not!]

Red and Blue in Nature

One of the first signs of spring I've seen in this area were some red branches in a landscaped area and in a nearby marsh. The branches turn a bright red in the spring, until some leaves grow on them. [Am not actually sure whether the branches stay red through the summer?--It's possible they do?] Thought the blue sky, and the lake in the distance, were also a nice contrast with the red!

New Links

Have added some new Links yesterday. It seems my information wasn't even 100% correct but I'm going to leave it posted as it is! Have been writing in the original blog about the Bordertown TV series and related issues. Had thought Vancouver, Washington was directly below Vancouver, Canada but maybe they're close only by their names? Anyway, I believe there have been some issues with Vancouver, Canada which have affected us here in the east, and elsewhere. [There's also a new TV series, Flashpoint. An Internet definition of a border town is that it can be a "flashpoint" for international conflict. In the case of Vancouver, there may be issues between the city police and the RCMP.--Will work on sorting them out!]

My Grandparents

Have found this photo of my grandparents recently. Sorry I can't make out the photographer's name in the right-hand bottom corner. The date appears to be '58, as far as I can see? It could also be '54 but the other is more likely. [It's also possible neither date is correct?]

These are my mom's parents. An earlier photo was posted in this blog on September 30, 2010.
